With the European championships still on, injuries still prevalent and people on holidays it was yet again a threadbare team that rocked up for the game against Loko. Fortunately Lee had decided to put his social life on hold this week, and Aryan Nation Al had gotten off the plane at 10am and that swelled the numbers to a massive thirteen.

After 3 match weeks in a row rained off for the Mighty Barnstoneworth fourth team, it was a highly blustery afternoon that we were sent back into the fray off the back of a 3-2 win and sitting 2nd in the table. A depleted squad of 12 turned out with Ronan and Dan arriving 15 minutes before kick off due to poor navigational skills. “Don’t even talk to me” roared Billy on their arrival at pitch side.

BUFC rocked up to the re-arranged game on Moore Park on a lovely sunny morning, the only fog in sight was in the minds of the players after the previous nights 25th Anniversary celebrations(assistant manager Mark Johnston getting home at 10am)   The pitch was tiny, no wonder it’s available,  in fact if the BUFC midfield wasn’t composed almost entirely of midgets we may not have been able to play 11 aside.

Panic spread among the players all week leading up to the game with no-one able to contact Billy. A joyous sigh of relief rang out when he showed up at Paine Reserve. He explained he had just turned his mobile off following an abusive phone call received early Monday morning from a disgruntled Irish man who will remain nameless (it was one of the Dooley brothers) (and it wasn’t Darren).

After last Sunday’s wake-up call at the hands of Coogee, Barnstoneworth travelled to UNSW hoping that the only thing plastic about this week’s performance was the pitch. Late news coming from the dressing room was the management had reshuffled the starting line-up bringing in Ricky on the right for Anto and much to his pleasure, (cue the scouse jig), Sean being positioned up front to freshen up the attacking options.

Dan failed us with his match report duties, but the game essentially went a bit like this.

Sunday turned out to be a stroll in the park for the Barnstoneworth boys who completed a
4-1 mauling of Lions FC at Centennial to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

A very brief report as Andy has let us down, for a man who speaks so much he is strangely reticent about putting pen to paper..

Barnstoneworth took on Queens Park at Paine hoping to build on last weeks success against Redfern.

A beautiful sunny day at Paine Reserve saw the newly promoted (apparently), Redfern take on Barnstoneworth 4ths. Report written by the unfortunate 17th man who saw his dreams of a blistering debut for the team shattered by a technicality, but on the plus side got to sit in the sun drinking beer, which the author is in no doubt he can do far better.

Well, after a hard fought game the week earlier, it was hoped that this weeks game would be a bit simpler against Coogee’s AA8 team. Electing to play against the wind in the first half due to a strange and mysterious superstition that developed when big John was a small child apparently. It may not be true, but he has promised that all will be revealed in the next Harry Potter film, make of that what you will..
