Last week’s workmanlike victory over Maccabi brought the regular season to a close for Barnestoneworth and earned a final place of 2nd in the table, a very solid achievement given that the squad were adamant in holding up the club’s tradition of slow starts in the league back in April/May.

Another beautiful day down in the lush park lands of Paine reserve saw Barnstoneworth United AA1s face off with basement dwellers Queen's Park in a must win fixture if the Barnies were to secure the sought after second spot with coogee hot on our tails.

This match took a long time to come together. After originally being scheduled for round 10 and being postponed due to the rain it was then re-arranged for a Wednesday night. Waverley didn't fancy it that night for whatever reason and in legendary Barnstoneworth sportsmanship we decided to play the game rather that takes the points outright. 

Off the back of a great win and clean sheet against Coogee B, Barnstonworth United AA1 were 3 games and 3 wins away from securing that all important second-place spot. Today’s game vs Redfern looked on paper to be the hardest of the 3 and after the poor home performance against this team a couple of weeks ago it was certainly a fixture that all Barny players were not taking lightly.

With an unexpected loss and then a hard fought draw Barnstoneworth United AA1 were looking to get back to winning ways this week against a Coogee United B side who were making a late push for the top 4. Barnstoneworth lost the reverse fixture earlier in the season so were looking to redeem themselves this time round.

Maccabi C were hosting us at Heffron Synthetic Pitch. It was a great winters day, the weather was perfect for a game of football. We were very much prepared and even Wynton managed to stay sober for the occasion. Despite this our captain, Mr fantastic, had to have a pre match shit after his night out at Randy Wix. However not much can be said about our lazy opposition as they rocked up half an hour later than us. They probably thought we would be an easy walkover, this certainly was not going to be the case...

Yet another mid-week fixture for Barnstoneworth United AA1’s, making this their fifth fixture in the space of 14 days. We all got down to Alexandria Park for the 8pm kick off and after putting the nets up completing a quick warm up, under some questionable flood lighting, Simba was ready to announce the team.

Sunday at the House Of Paine saw the might of Barnstoneworth United take on Mascot Queens in what was a potentially tricky fixture, with a couple of first team regulars away or injured.

Barnstoneworth Uniteds AA1's played their third game in the space of a week on Thursday night as they took on undefeated Coogee United A at Heffron Park.
